Patna, Feb 1 (NationPress) Five Nepalese nationals tragically lost their lives and four others sustained serious injuries in a devastating road accident on Saturday when their vehicle overturned while attempting to evade a motorcyclist.
The incident occurred in Muzaffarpur as the individuals were returning to Nepal from Prayagraj after participating in the Maha Kumbh.
Witnesses recounted a scene of turmoil, with anguished cries resonating from the crash site. The impact was tremendous, as the Scorpio SUV rolled over multiple times, resulting in severe injuries to all passengers.
Local officials, including Rural SP Vidya Sagar, City SP Vishwajit Dayal, and the SDM, along with police from various stations, swiftly arrived at the location and commenced rescue operations.
“Five individuals succumbed at the scene while we rescued four others from the wreck. They were immediately taken to Shri Krishna Memorial Medical College (SKMCH) for medical attention. Their condition is reported as critical,” stated Vidya Sagar.
“We are working on identifying the victims. Initial investigations indicate they are from Nepal. We have contacted the Nepalese authorities regarding the incident and are also attempting to reach the victims' families. The post-mortem for the deceased will occur in the presence of their family members,” he added.
He noted that the hospital staff is diligently providing medical assistance to the injured, while the mangled vehicle has been removed from the roadway to restore traffic.
Authorities are probing the factors that led to the accident, with further updates on the injured individuals' status pending.
On January 30, a separate incident resulted in three fatalities and one serious injury due to a collision between two motorcycles in Aurangabad district of Bihar.
Additionally, on the same day, a bus and truck collided on National Highway 31 in Purnea district, claiming two lives and injuring around a dozen passengers.
