Kolkata, Feb 6 (NationPress) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat is set to arrive in West Bengal on Thursday evening for a 10-day visit, where he will interact with Sangh functionaries regarding organisational topics and chart out the future direction of the organisation.

For the initial five days in Kolkata, Bhagwat will hold discussions with RSS leaders and local influencers, aiming to enhance the organisation's structure and guarantee its operational efficacy, according to sources.

On February 11, Bhagwat will take a short break before continuing his tour through the southern districts of Bengal.

“Bhagwat is slated to visit various districts, including Burdwan, where he is anticipated to conduct his only public rally on February 16. He will also meet with regional RSS leaders, local activists, and notable personalities from Burdwan and its adjoining areas,” an RSS leader stated.

“These meetings are expected to concentrate on the growth of the organisation, outreach to the community, and reinforcing connections between RSS leadership and local stakeholders,” he added.

His visit will emphasize the importance of values such as patriotism, self-reliance, family values, environmental protection, and fostering community through family-oriented activities.

As per RSS General Secretary Jishnu Basu, Bhagwat will arrive in the state from Kerala.

“From February 7-10, Bhagwat will engage with RSS functionaries in the Dakshin Banga zone, which encompasses Purba-Paschim Medinipur, Howrah, Kolkata, and North-South 24 Parganas. On February 13, he will transition to the Madhyabanga zone, covering areas such as Bankura, Purulia, Birbhum, Purba-Paschim Bardhaman, and Nadia,” Basu mentioned.

A significant segment of the visit includes Bhagwat's involvement in a brainstorming session on February 11-12, followed by the inauguration of a new RSS office in Madhyabanga on February 14.

Bhagwat will also participate in a conference of RSS functionaries on February 16 at the SAI complex in Burdwan.

Basu stressed that Bhagwat's visit aims to enhance the spirit of nationalism among the Hindu community, encourage ‘Swadeshi’ consciousness, and promote the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, a key national objective.

He noted that RSS pracharaks (campaigners) would focus on advocating for environmental protection, cleanliness, and patriotism, aligning with these messages.

“In alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, India is set to become ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’, and every pracharak will contribute towards realizing this goal. Each 'pracharak' will work on environmental betterment, cleanliness, and discouraging public spitting. We will seek guidance from Bhagwat ji on effective ways to convey these messages to the populace,” he explained.

In response to inquiries about the political implications of the visit, Basu clarified that the RSS is not a political entity. He indicated that the visit and associated meetings, referred to as 'prabas' in RSS terminology, had been scheduled well in advance and are not specifically designed to influence the forthcoming 2026 state assembly elections.

Bhagwat will also evaluate the performance of RSS operatives in both urban and rural sectors of the state.

Political analysts suggest that the RSS has played a pivotal role in the BJP's electoral strategies, and Bhagwat's visit should be interpreted in the context of the impending Assembly elections.
