Acharya Vidyasagar Ji Maharaj (10 October 1946 – 18 February 2024) was a prominent Digambara Jain monk celebrated for his impactful contributions to education and the revival of Jain traditions.

He lived a life of strict asceticism, abstaining from milk, curd, green vegetables, ghee, and dry fruits, and consumed water only once daily. His diet was minimal, consisting of only dal and roti, and he was known for traveling barefoot across the nation.

Acharya Vidyasagar attained samadhi in Dongargarh on February 18, 2024, at 77 years old, after three days of fasting.

On February 6, 2024, he appointed Muni Samaysagar as his successor. To honor his legacy, the Chandragiri Trust has organized a grand festival starting on February 1 and concluding today, commemorating one year since Acharya Vidyasagar's samadhi.

During the festivities, HM Shah will participate in the Siddhachakra Vidhan Vishwa Shanti Maha Yagya and afterwards join the Vinayanjali ceremony at Chandragiri Tirtha, where he will honor the esteemed saint.

After the event, at 2:50 PM, HM Shah will visit the Maa Bamleshwari temple, a major pilgrimage site in Chhattisgarh that attracts millions of devotees each year.

Security has been significantly bolstered for HM Shah's visit, with local police, district administration, and various security agencies closely supervising the arrangements. The SP and Collector are directly managing preparations, with special forces assigned to both Chandragiri Tirtha and Maa Bamleshwari Temple. The district administration has also implemented detailed plans to maintain cleanliness and ensure smooth traffic flow.

There is a palpable excitement among local citizens and devotees in Dongargarh regarding Amit Shah's visit. The city has been beautifully adorned to welcome the Union Home Minister, with many hoping that his presence will also draw attention to developmental needs in the area.
