Bhopal, Jan 20 (NationPress) Amid worries that the persistent factionalism within the party could influence the grand event scheduled for January 27 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari has called upon party members to fortify the organization in the state and refrain from engaging in "groupism".
While addressing party supporters ahead of the 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim and Jai Samvidhan' initiative that is set to kick off from Mhow, Patwari remarked on Sunday that if the groupism continues, the party's very existence in Madhya Pradesh would be at stake.
Patwari emphasized the necessity for party leaders to distance themselves from sycophants.
He stated, "Sycophants exist in every political party. It is essential for us to avoid them. We must eradicate groupism within the party; otherwise, we will cease to exist," Patwari was heard declaring in a video that circulated on social media on Monday.
This declaration follows escalating worries regarding the ongoing factionalism in the state chapter of the party.
Recently, a faction of senior Congress officials, including former Chief Minister Kamal Nath, had accused the state leadership of not consulting them regarding key decisions made for the party's events. However, he subsequently refuted reports from the media.
Another senior party figure and former CM Digvijaya Singh on Saturday dismissed rumors that state Congress president Jitu Patwari was uncomfortable with senior party members. In response to reporters, Digvijaya Singh remarked that he maintains excellent coordination with Jitu Patwari.
Meanwhile, the ruling BJP took a jab at Congress, asserting that factionalism has significantly increased since Jitu Patwari assumed leadership of MP Congress.
"Everyone is aware that since Jitu Patwari took charge, factionalism has reached unprecedented levels within Madhya Pradesh Congress. There is no denying the factionalism in the party," stated MP BJP media in charge Ashish Agarwal.
In preparation for the Mhow event, Jitu Patwari has been actively touring the Malwa-Nimar region to motivate Congress workers to generate enthusiasm for the party. Rahul Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will inaugurate the Samvidhan campaign from Mhow on January 27.
