Guwahati/Itanagar, Jan 20 (NationPress) Security forces confiscated drugs and ganja (cannabis) valued at Rs 2.38 crore and detained three individuals involved in drug trafficking within the last 24 hours across three northeastern states: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram, as reported by officials on Monday.
In southern Assam’s Cachar district, authorities recovered drugs worth Rs 1 crore and arrested a suspect linked to the case.
The police intercepted a vehicle at the Digharkhal Toll Gate in Cachar district after it had traveled from neighboring Mizoram. They seized over 8,640 bottles of Codeine Phosphate cough syrup along with 2 kg of ganja, amounting to Rs one crore.
Different types of cough syrups are utilized as drugs in various northeastern states and the adjacent country of Bangladesh.
