New Delhi, Jan 18 (NationPress) India’s automotive sector is on the brink of substantial growth, and the ‘Make in India’ initiative, driven by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision, is enabling automotive companies to enhance local vehicle production and increase export volumes, particularly in electric vehicles (EVs), industry leaders remarked on Saturday.

The auto expo is designed to consolidate the entire mobility value chain, paving the way for the future of transportation. Over the past four years, the Indian automobile sector has attracted over $36 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI), a figure that is expected to multiply in the years ahead.

In an interview with IANS at the ongoing ‘Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025’ in New Delhi, Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer of JSW MG Motor India, highlighted that the auto sector contributes nearly 50 percent of the country’s manufacturing GDP, stating that “the outlook for the future of the auto sector is very promising.”

“This is the ideal moment for ‘Make in India’ and to export more vehicles globally. The government’s policies are highly supportive of this endeavor,” Gupta emphasized.

He also mentioned that his company is at the forefront of EV manufacturing in the nation.

“We introduced our first EV, the MG ZS EV, in January 2020 and offer a lifetime battery buyback for our products. Currently, 70 percent of our sales are from EVs, and we plan to release more products in this category,” Gupta shared.

Hardeep Singh Brar, Senior VP of Kia India in sales and marketing, also spoke to IANS, stating that they are striving to increase vehicle production.

“This year, we will unveil our first India-manufactured EV. KIA India has reached over 80 percent localization and is working to enhance localization in the EV sector,” Brar added.

The event takes place across three prominent locations – Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, and India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida – from January 17-22.

The theme for ‘Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025’ is “Beyond Boundaries: Co-creating Future Automotive Value Chain.” This vision promotes collaboration and innovation throughout the automotive and mobility sectors, focusing on sustainable and advanced technological developments.
