New Delhi, Feb 3 (NationPress) Women-led startups in India are gaining international recognition, representing significant potential in achieving the Viksit Bharat vision, stated Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology on Monday.
While addressing a group from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry - Ladies Organisation (FICCI-FLO), the Minister highlighted that women are excelling in challenging areas, including space exploration.
He referenced India’s solar initiative, “Aditya L1”, which is spearheaded by Nigar Shaji, renowned as ISRO’s “Sunny Lady”.
“The empowerment of women through development is a crucial aspect of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance philosophy, with the aim that women-led startups will position India prominently on the global stage in the near future. Our women entrepreneurs possess the capability to fulfill this vision,” Singh remarked.
He noted that since 2014, the concept of women’s empowerment has taken on a tangible form through numerous welfare initiatives, including entrepreneurship-focused programs like PM MUDRA and PM Vishwakarma, which have greatly benefited the female workforce.
The Union Minister emphasized that women are transitioning from a historically participatory role to leadership positions across all domains and professions.
Singh mentioned that approximately 70 percent of the youth receiving financial aid through PM Mudra Yojana are women, who have utilized the funds to establish their own livelihoods and create jobs for others.
Referring to traditional artisans and craftsmen as an “exclusive asset of India,” the Union Minister remarked that these individuals have been integrated into mainstream society through the launch of PM Vishwakarma Yojana.
“These traditional artisans and craftsmen are vital to Indian society, preserving the nation’s ancient traditions and crafts, yet they have been neglected since independence,” he stated.
