Mumbai, Jan 9 (NationPress) Renowned Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, known for her recent appearance in ‘Singham Again’, has raised her voice against the recent comments made by Larsen & Toubro's chairman SN Subrahmanyan.
Subrahmanyan made an alarming request, asking his employees to commit to 90 hours of work per week and to show up even on Sundays.
Deepika, who is a strong advocate for mental health, has criticized Subrahmanyan for his clear negligence of labour laws and the importance of mental well-being.
She shared a post from journalist Faye D'Souza regarding the issue, stating, “Shocking to see individuals in such high-ranking positions making these kinds of remarks. #MentalHealthMatters”.
This isn't the first time a business leader has made such vague demands from the workforce in India; previously, Infosys co-founder N. R. Narayana Murthy stirred controversy by suggesting that young Indians should work for 70 hours a week to contribute to the nation's progress.
Last year, Deepika Padukone made a vibrant appearance alongside Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh at his concert in Bengaluru.
A fan captured a video where the actress was joyfully dancing to his song with Sia, ‘Hass Hass’, on stage. The duo also performed to Diljit’s synth-pop hit ‘Lover’.
This event marked Deepika’s first public appearance after welcoming her daughter Dua. The concert held special significance as it took place in her hometown. Born in Copenhagen, she grew up in Bengaluru before entering the world of modeling.
She then established a remarkable career in Hindi cinema, making her debut in ‘Om Shanti Om’ alongside the Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan, with whom she has a successful history at the box office.
In 2023, the actress starred in two blockbuster films with SRK, namely ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawan’, where she made a cameo in the latter. Both movies played a crucial role in revitalizing Bollywood’s box office following a pandemic-induced slump.
Before ‘Singham Again’, the actress ventured into pan-Indian cinema, starring alongside icons of Indian film like Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and Saswata Chatterjee in ‘Kalki 2898 AD’.
