Mumbai, Feb 5 (NationPress) Actress Genelia Deshmukh, who recently celebrated the title victory of her Pickleball team, Pune United, in the latest season of the World Pickleball League, has shared her thoughts on entering the OTT space.
In a recent conversation with IANS, she reflected on her film journey and the increasing passion for sports in India.
The actress, with a rich theatrical background, has starred in films across various languages long before the pan-India film movement gained momentum.
When asked about the possibility of seeing her in an OTT series soon, she expressed to IANS, “I would love to. For me, whether it’s short-format or long-format, what matters is how I can connect with my audience. I have always been open to any kind of work. Work is work. I began my career with South Films before it became mainstream, and I take great pride in that.”
She elaborated, “I have worked in Bollywood and South Indian cinema. My love for films as a medium spans short and long formats. However, I am particularly excited about long-format content.”
Recently, India has been making significant strides on the global sports stage, with Gukesh Dommaraju becoming a World Champion in Chess, alongside commendable performances in the Paris Olympics and Paralympics.
Does she believe that the sports ecosystem in India is finally undergoing positive changes?
The actress remarked, “I have always cherished sports and wished for improved facilities, infrastructure, and greater viewership. While previously limited to one or two sports, today, people are embracing a variety of sports and celebrating those who excel. This is fantastic for viewers like me and for my child, who is also passionate about sports.”
“Now, there is at least the opportunity to dream and put in the hard work. Dreaming is essential, but being able to reach an international level is something India has been achieving commendably over the years,” she added.
