Chennai, Feb 22 (NationPress) Actor Kishore, who portrays Karthik in director Prithviraj Sukumaran’s highly anticipated political thriller L2: Empuraan, starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, reveals that his character is an IB officer who traverses two distinct worlds.

On Saturday, actor Mohanlal took to X to unveil Kishore’s character in the film. He stated, “Character No.10 Kishore Kumar G as Karthik in #L2E #EMPURAAN” and shared a link to a YouTube video featuring Kishore discussing his role in the movie.

Kishore expressed in the video, “Upon receiving the offer for this film, I was absolutely thrilled. The primary reason was that the first installment, ‘Lucifer,’ was a massive success. Additionally, collaborating with director Prithviraj excited me immensely. Thus, I promptly agreed to take on the role, irrespective of its nature.”

About his character Karthik, Prithviraj commented, “The character I play, Karthik, is an IB officer who navigates two realms while striving to uphold decorum. It’s a fascinating and pivotal role within the narrative.”

“This role is crucial for the film, requiring me to deliver lines in both English and Malayalam. The extensive dialogue in both languages posed a challenge for me, especially since I am not originally from Kerala. As a Kannadiga, mastering Malayalam lines to sound like a native speaker was quite difficult, particularly with the pacing I needed to maintain. Prithviraj kept prompting me, ‘A little more speed, a little more speed,’ and I found myself fumbling. Therefore, I had to practice extensively,” Kishore revealed.

Sharing his thoughts on working with an actor-director, Kishore mentioned, “From my experience, when an actor takes on the role of director, they possess a profound understanding of the actors’ perspectives, their working styles, and the intricacies of performing in front of a camera. This insight facilitates smoother interactions. If we encounter challenges with a line, emotion, expression, or movement, having an actor at the helm makes it easier and more comfortable. This was an advantage we enjoyed while working on Empuraan.

The Mohanlal-led L2: Empuraan (L2E) is directed by Prithviraj and produced by Antony Perumbavoor and Subaskaran. The screenplay is authored by Murali Gopy, with music composed by Deepak Dev. The film features cinematography by Sujith Vaassudev and editing by Akhilesh Mohan. It is set to release in theaters on March 27 this year.
