Mumbai, Feb 1 (NationPress) The talented director-writer team of Siddharth–Garima, known for their acclaimed works such as Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Padmaavat, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, Kabir Singh, and others, revealed that their latest project, ‘Saale Aashiq’, presents a progressive narrative about lovers who challenge societal norms.
The duo recently engaged with IANS to discuss their film, its leading man Tahir Raj Bhasin, and their collaboration with the esteemed Indian filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
While elaborating on the film, Siddharth shared with IANS, “‘Saale Aashiq’ encompasses a journey of 10-12 years. The concept originated over a decade ago. What distinguishes the film is the tragic fate of the eloped lovers, culminating in an honor killing.”
Garima added that the film’s appeal is also tied to its marketability: “A producer is the initial audience for a writer. It's the producer who approves the project based on their affinity for your narrative.” She explained that when they conceived the story, the trends in Hindi cinema were quite different from those today. “However, evolving times have paved the way for courageous stories to emerge, thus shaping ‘Saale Aashiq’.”
The duo also highlighted their lead actor, Tahir Raj Bhasin, who stars alongside actress Mithila Palkar. They remarked, “Tahir has not yet portrayed the typical Hindi film lead. This film showcases his talents in a refreshing manner. He and Mithila create a remarkable partnership as they strive to fight for their love.”
Discussing their experience with SLB, Siddharth noted, “He is a master of his craft. We learned from him the importance of remaining authentic to the core of the story.”
Garima elaborated, “For ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela’, he encouraged us to explore Gujarat, immersing ourselves in the culture by traversing the narrow lanes of rural regions. This experience provided invaluable insights, allowing us to appreciate the architectural heritage of the Rabari community, which ultimately influenced our narrative.”
She continued, “This practice remains essential for us. We prioritize completely distancing ourselves from Mumbai to the actual locations where our narratives unfold, ensuring authenticity in our films.”
The film ‘Saale Aashiq’ can be viewed on Sony Max.
