Prayagraj, Nov 30 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (PM-JAY), initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has been a lifesaver for numerous individuals, especially among the underprivileged and destitute, and has fundamentally altered the healthcare landscape of the country by ensuring that essential medical treatments are both accessible and affordable for everyone. From minor health issues to critical conditions, individuals are receiving treatments at hospitals at no cost.
Ramdev, a recipient of PM-JAY, also known as Ayushman Bharat, is currently receiving kidney treatment at a government facility in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and he expresses immense gratitude for the initiative.
In a conversation with IANS, he recounted his struggles upon discovering his illness and the seamless access to free treatment he received through the program.
"I developed a kidney infection that was causing significant discomfort. My family admitted me to Jeevan Jyoti Hospital. I have been here for three days. After receiving treatment, I am feeling much better. The care I have received in the hospital over these three days has been excellent. The doctors are offering me comprehensive assistance," he shared.
He expressed deep appreciation to the Prime Minister, stating that, without such a program, he would never have the financial means to afford such expensive medical care.
He expressed disappointment that such initiatives were absent in the past but also conveyed optimism for the future, given the potential of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
"We have experienced various governments in the past. Such a program was never introduced by prior administrations. However, now we are receiving exceptional care through the Ayushman Bharat initiative from the government led by PM Modi," he remarked.
It is important to note that the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY is recognized as the largest health scheme globally, designed to offer health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per family per year for hospitalization to more than 12 crore poor and vulnerable families (approximately 55 crore beneficiaries).
Additionally, elderly individuals above the age of 70 have also been included in this scheme. A remarkable aspect of this program is that treatment can be availed in any hospital across the nation.
