Bhopal, Feb 3 (NationPress) Over 200 individuals experienced illness stemming from food poisoning in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district and were swiftly taken to medical facilities, according to police reports on Monday.
The individuals affected had assembled at a temple for a 'bhandara' in the village of Mamoni Kala on Saturday.
This communal 'bhandara' attracted attendees from three to four nearby villages. Residents have reported that there is at least one to two patients in each household, and the number of ill persons may continue to rise.
Upon receiving alerts, a team from the Shivpuri District Hospital's Health Department promptly arrived on site to provide care by establishing a medical camp.
District medical and health officer Sanjay Rajeshwar noted that the majority of patients have shown improvement after receiving treatment.
However, the health status of approximately 60 patients remains critical, and they have been admitted to the district hospital. Rajeshwar indicated that initial investigations showed that villagers likely suffered from food poisoning.
Samples of the food were collected for analysis, and the definitive cause will be determined following the investigation report, he added.
He also mentioned that those affected, who reported symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, and fever, are currently under treatment.
“While 60 individuals continue to receive care, none have lost consciousness, and their health is gradually improving. A team of six doctors has been assigned to oversee the situation,” Rajeshwar stated.
