Seoul, Feb 21 (NationPress) South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul recently engaged in discussions with his counterparts from the UK and Australia, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations with both nations, as reported by his ministry on Friday.

The discussions took place on Thursday (local time) in Johannesburg, South Africa, where Cho was present for the Group of 20 foreign ministers' meeting, according to the foreign ministry.

Throughout the meetings, Cho shared insights on the US relations under the new administration, the security situation on the Korean Peninsula, North Korea-Russia military collaboration, and global security challenges. The attendees reached a consensus on enhancing communication and cooperation, as reported by Yonhap news agency.

During his discussion with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Cho highlighted the thriving global strategic partnership between their nations, to which Lammy expressed aspirations for stronger collaboration and a deeper bond.

In a separate conversation with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, they reviewed the progress and implementation strategies of their joint initiative to establish an environmentally sustainable shipping route, alongside discussions on bilateral defense cooperation and defense manufacturing.

Earlier in February, security dynamics concerning the Indo-Pacific and North Korea were deliberated by the US, Japan, and South Korea during the Munich Security Conference 2025.

The US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi, and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul emphasized their mutual commitment to safeguarding the safety, security, and prosperity of their nations as well as the Indo-Pacific region, as stated in a joint declaration by the US State Department.
