Jerusalem, Feb 2 (NationPress) The Israeli Air Force launched an attack on a vehicle within a convoy of displaced Palestinians in central Gaza on Sunday, resulting in injuries to at least four individuals, according to local media reports.

A child was among those hurt and is currently in critical condition, as reported by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.

The injured child was taken to Al-Awda Hospital, according to Xinhua news agency.

An Israeli military representative confirmed that the airstrike targeted a vehicle on Al-Rasheed Street, located northwest of the Nuseirat refugee camp.

The spokesperson indicated that the aircraft "fired to deter a suspicious vehicle traveling north from central Gaza" after it attempted to enter northern Gaza without undergoing inspection.

The military stated it "remains prepared for any scenario and will continue to undertake all necessary actions to eliminate immediate threats to its forces".

This incident unfolded following the establishment of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas on January 19, which concluded over 15 months of hostilities.

On Sunday, the Israeli military announced that it has intensified its major operation in the northern occupied West Bank.

Overnight, Israeli troops conducted a raid in the town of Tammun, located north of Nablus, where an Israeli airstrike had previously resulted in the deaths of 10 militants, according to a military spokesperson, who noted that troops uncovered an M-16 rifle and magazines.

The spokesperson also mentioned that Israeli forces were preparing to raid four additional towns and villages in the region, with an active operation ongoing in Jenin, further north in the West Bank, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Israeli ground troops and bulldozers invaded the area, compelling several families to evacuate their homes on the outskirts of the town. Bulldozers erected earth mounds, obstructing the primary road leading to the town.

On the same day, a 73-year-old Palestinian man was shot dead by Israeli soldiers in the Jenin refugee camp, as reported by the Palestinian Red Crescent.

Israel initiated its most extensive military operation in Jenin in years on January 21, labeling it a "counterterrorism operation". Since the offensive began, at least 25 individuals have been killed by Israeli forces, according to Palestinian sources.

Israeli military vehicles and two bulldozers advanced into the town of Tammun, southeast of Tubas city, and the al-Far'a refugee camp, imposing a curfew in both areas.

Witnesses reported that Israeli soldiers expelled families from their residences in the al-Far'a camp and repurposed the buildings as military posts.

The Palestinian official news agency WAFA verified the Israeli incursion in both regions.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society accused Israeli forces of obstructing its medics from evacuating a sick Palestinian in the al-Far'a camp.

Local authorities in Tubas suspended classes in Tammun and al-Far'a camps due to the Israeli raid.

Earlier on Saturday, a 16-year-old Palestinian boy was among five fatalities resulting from Israeli airstrikes on Jenin, as reported by the Palestinian Health Ministry.

The airstrikes were part of a large-scale Israeli military operation that has persisted for nearly three weeks.

The Israeli military began its incursion into the northern West Bank city on January 21, merely two days after a ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas took effect.

Since then, hundreds of Israeli soldiers, supported by the Air Force, have assaulted Palestinian territories under the pretext of searching for military weaponry and equipment.
