Houthi Forces Assert Responsibility for Rocket Strike on Israeli Energy Facility
Sanaa, Jan 5 (NationPress) Yemen's Houthi forces announced their responsibility for a nighttime rocket strike aimed at Israel, asserting that the Orot Rabin power facility was the target.

Sanaa, Jan 5 (NationPress) The Houthi forces from Yemen declared on Sunday that they were behind a nighttime rocket strike directed at Israel, claiming the Orot Rabin power facility was their target. Yahya Sarea, the military spokesperson for the Houthis, stated in a broadcast by the Houthi-controlled al-Masirah TV that, 'We executed a military operation aimed at the Orot Rabin power plant located south of Haifa in Israel.'

He further mentioned, 'The operation was conducted using a hypersonic ballistic missile, and it successfully achieved its objectives.' Sarea emphasized, 'Our military actions supporting the Mujahideen in the Gaza Strip will persist,' pledging that the group intends to continue its offensive against Israel to 'compel it to cease its aggression and lift its blockade on Gaza.'

In contrast, reports from Israeli media earlier in the day indicated that the Israeli defense forces had 'intercepted a missile launched from Yemen.'

Shortly after the Houthi rocket strike on Israel, al-Masirah TV reported that a coalition of US and British naval forces had executed three strikes early on Sunday, targeting the eastern region of the Yemeni city of Saada.

Local residents mentioned on social media that the strikes aimed at a Houthi military installation within the city of Saada.

As reported by Xinhua news agency, the US military has not yet issued a statement regarding the Houthi claims.

The Houthi group, which has a stronghold over much of northern Yemen, has been consistently launching rocket and drone offensives against Israel and disrupting 'Israeli-related' maritime operations in the Red Sea since November 2023, in a demonstration of solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza amidst their ongoing conflict with Israel.

Previously, on January 3, the Houthi group had indicated that it executed missile and drone attacks targeting the Israeli city of Tel Aviv.

In a statement broadcast by al-Masirah TV, Sarea had declared that the group launched a hypersonic ballistic missile at a power station in eastern Tel Aviv, asserting that the missile successfully struck its intended target.

Additionally, he mentioned that the group had deployed a bomb-laden drone aimed at a 'military target' in Tel Aviv and vowed that assaults against Israel 'would persist until the conflict in Gaza concludes.'
