Amman, April 25 (NationPress) Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi has emphasized the urgent need to stop the violence in Gaza, call for an immediate ceasefire, fully implement the prisoner exchange agreement, and ensure the arrival of humanitarian assistance into Gaza.
He made these statements during a meeting in Amman with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto, as reported by the Ministry on Thursday.
"It is essential to take all necessary actions to eliminate any barriers to the entry of aid, and subsequently strive for the just and enduring peace we seek in the kingdom, in line with all Arab nations, as such peace is the only genuine assurance for the security of everyone in this area," he stated.
Safadi and Szijjarto explored avenues to strengthen the friendship between Jordan and Hungary, enhance bilateral cooperation, and fortify ties within the framework of the strategic partnership with the European Union, according to Xinhua news agency.
Israel has enforced an eight-week blockade on food, medicine, and aid to Gaza, while persisting with aerial strikes on residences and makeshift shelters, with UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric describing the consequences for civilians as "extremely serious."
On Wednesday, the Foreign Ministers of Britain, France, and Germany urged Israel to adhere to international law and allow unrestricted humanitarian aid to flow into Gaza.
In a joint declaration, the Ministers asserted: "Humanitarian aid must never be utilized as a political weapon, and Palestinian territory must not be diminished nor subjected to any demographic alterations."
The two Ministers also examined the situations in Syria and Lebanon, highlighting the importance of supporting stability in both nations, as stated.
Moreover, the Hungarian official reaffirmed Hungary's commitment to realizing and implementing the strategic partnership between the European Union and Jordan as swiftly as possible, as per the Jordanian statement.
Szijjarto also underscored Jordan's pivotal role in controlling illegal migration to Europe, noting, "We are confident that without Jordan's responsible approach, millions of illegal migrants would have dispersed across Europe, resulting in migration waves that Europe could not have managed."
