Washington, Feb 22 (NationPress) Kash Patel proclaimed on Friday that the American dream is very much alive as a first generation Indian kid prepares to helm the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

"I am truly living the American dream," Patel expressed after taking the oath of office, surrounded by his sister Nisha Patel, girlfriend Alexis Wilkins, and family.

"For anyone who believes the American Dream is a thing of the past, just look at me. You're hearing from a first-generation Indian kid who is set to lead the law enforcement in the greatest country on God's green earth."

Kashyap Pramod Vinod Patel, 44, is now the ninth Director of the FBI and the first of Indian and Asian descent.

Patel's family hails from Gujarat, having relocated to the US from Canada after fleeing Uganda to escape ethnic persecution.

Raised in New York, he pursued law studies and became a public defender. His career skyrocketed during President Trump's first term, where he served as Chief of Staff at the Pentagon and Deputy Director of National Intelligence.

Shortly before Patel was sworn in, President Donald Trump praised him, stating that Patel "is going to be remembered as possibly the best FBI Director ever."

Patel is a controversial figure, often stirring reactions from both sides of the political spectrum with his pointed comments.

In a narrow confirmation vote of 51-49 in the 100-member US Senate, two Republican Senators joined all Democrats in opposing his appointment.

President Trump acknowledged that he anticipated a difficult confirmation process, describing Patel as "a tough guy, a strong guy (and) someone with his own views."

Regarding his agenda, Patel stated, "Last year, 100,000 individuals were victims of rape; 100,000 succumbed to CCP fentanyl (originating from the Communist Party of China) overdose and heroin; and there were 17,000 homicides. Violent crime is spiraling out of control. We cannot accept such a situation in the United States of America."

"Our national security mission is of equal importance," he continued, adding: "Anyone who intends to harm our way of life and our citizens, both domestically and internationally, will feel the full force of the Department of Justice and the FBI. Should you attempt to hide in any part of this country or anywhere on this planet, we will initiate the world's largest manhunt to locate you and determine your fate—not you."
