Paris, Feb 12 (NationPress) After effectively co-chairing the AI Action Summit in Paris, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Marseille on Tuesday (local time) ahead of their scheduled engagements in the city.

PM Modi also expressed his gratitude to the people of Marseille for their significant role in Veer Savarkar's escape during the colonial era.

He shared on the social media platform X, "In India's pursuit of freedom, this city holds a unique importance. It was here that the valiant Veer Savarkar made a bold attempt to escape. I want to thank the residents of Marseille and the French activists of that era who insisted that he not be extradited to British authorities. The courage of Veer Savarkar continues to motivate future generations!"

In Cadarche, both PM Modi and President Macron are set to visit the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project, a major international collaboration in nuclear fusion research.

As a tribute to historical connections, the Prime Minister will also visit the Mazargues War Cemetery to pay respects to Indian soldiers who lost their lives in the World Wars.
