Jaipur, Jan 20 (NationPress) The Rajasthan Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Police Headquarters, in collaboration with the Chirawa and Surajgarh Police, successfully intercepted a truck container loaded with 204 kilograms of ganja in the Surajgarh region of Jhunjhunu district and took the driver into custody.

The driver has been identified as Subhash Chandra Jat (40), a resident of Norgah ka Bas Jatan in Haryana's Charkhi Dadri district.

An official disclosed that the seized ganja is estimated to be worth around ₹2.50 crore.

According to reports, authorities received a tip-off regarding a truck transporting a substantial quantity of ganja from Odisha to Haryana. A team led by Sub-Inspector Subhash Tanwar and supported by other AGTF and local police officers pursued the vehicle for several hours. Despite multiple attempts to halt the truck, the driver recklessly evaded capture, putting lives at risk and damaging numerous vehicles in Surajgarh town.

Ultimately, the truck went off-road into a field near Jakhod bypass. The driver made an attempt to escape but was apprehended by law enforcement.

Upon investigation, officials discovered a concealed compartment at the back of the truck, cleverly designed to avoid detection.

Inside, six plastic bags containing 40 packets of ganja weighing a total of 204.85 kg were found. Both the truck and the illicit substance were confiscated, and the driver was detained.

Authorities revealed that the accused, Subhash Chandra, has a criminal background.

“He has a prior conviction under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in Haryana, resulting in a 10-year prison sentence. After being granted bail in 2017, he went into hiding and was declared a proclaimed offender, with a reward issued for his capture,” the official stated.

The operation was supervised by Additional Director General (ADG) of the Police, Dinesh MN, and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Yogesh Yadav.

Key intelligence that led to the raid was provided by Constable Harish of AGTF Chirawa. The team comprised officers from AGTF headquarters, Chirawa, and Surajgarh police, who coordinated effectively to carry out the operation.

Currently, the accused is undergoing interrogation to reveal additional information about his criminal affiliations and the smuggling network.

Authorities are actively investigating his connections to other criminals and ongoing drug trafficking operations.
