Aligarh, March 15 (NationPress) A 25-year-old individual was fatally shot in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh just moments before he was set to partake in 'sehri' (the pre-dawn meal) during Ramzan, as four assailants on motorcycles executed a brazen attack, which was captured on CCTV.
The tragic event unfolded in the early hours of Friday in Telipada, Roravar, as per police reports. The victim, known as Haris, had recently returned from a cricket game and was standing outside his residence, waiting for 'sehri', when the attackers initiated their assault.
The disturbing CCTV footage shows Haris turning in shock as a pillion rider on a motorbike points a firearm at him. He instinctively raises his hands to protect himself, but the shooter discharges the first round while still in motion.
As Haris falters, the assailant fires two additional shots, causing him to fall to the ground. A friend nearby escapes the scene in fear.
As Haris lies injured, the gunman dismounts and fires another round into him before reboarding the motorcycle. Simultaneously, a second attacker exits another bike, approaches Haris, and attempts to shoot again.
Upon realizing his weapon is not ready, he quickly readies it and fires three more times into the incapacitated man before getting back on the bike. The assailants then escape, leaving Haris lifeless on the ground while a bystander pursues them.
In total, the attackers unleashed more than seven bullets, leaving Haris with no chance of survival. He was hurried to a medical facility, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Upon being notified, police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. The body has been sent for a post-mortem, and a forensic team has gathered evidence. Authorities are currently working to identify the attackers through the CCTV footage.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Mayank Pathak stated, "We received reports of the shooting around 3:30 am. Haris was promptly taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his wounds."
He added that a case has been filed and an inquiry is ongoing.
Initial investigations indicate that personal grievances might have been the motive, although all possibilities are being examined.
"It seems Haris was embroiled in a conflict with someone, which led to the shooting. However, we are interviewing his family and conducting a comprehensive investigation to determine the precise motive," Pathak concluded.
