Mumbai, Feb 21 (NationPress) The Mumbai Crime Branch, in collaboration with Buldhana Police, has detained two suspects on Friday in connection with an email threat aimed at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

The individuals, named Mangesh Wayal (35) and Abhay Shingane (22), hail from Deulgaon Mahi located in Deulgaon Raja taluka, Buldhana district. They are being transported to Mumbai for further questioning.

They will be presented before a court for custody.

The inquiry was initiated after the Goregaon Police Station received a threatening email on Thursday, which mentioned a bomb threat concerning Deputy CM Shinde’s vehicle. Following this threat, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed under Sections 351(3), 351(4), and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

In spite of the threat, Deputy CM Shinde continued his official engagements. He attended the swearing-in ceremony of Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday, joined by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and fellow Deputy CM Ajit Pawar. Subsequently, Shinde also attended other scheduled public events.

In response to the incident, Shiv Sena spokesperson Kiran Hegde remarked, “These seem to be the actions of pranksters; however, the police must treat this matter seriously. Stringent measures should be enforced to deter such mischief-makers from issuing threats in the future. DCM Shinde is a prominent leader who remains unshaken by intimidation. He has served across various regions of the state, including the Naxal-affected areas of Gadchiroli. Nonetheless, the authorities must regard these threats with the seriousness they warrant.”

This incident has sparked a political debate, with opposition figures raising concerns about the law and order situation in Maharashtra.

Officials, however, have reassured the public that all essential security protocols are being implemented and that the investigation is advancing on multiple fronts.
