Kolkata, Feb 5 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee stated on Wednesday that West Bengal has transformed into a prime business hub, now free from power interruptions and strikes.

"There are no power cuts these days. The era of frequent strikes is behind us. A productive work culture is now flourishing in the state. This positions West Bengal as the top investment destination," the Chief Minister remarked during the 8th edition of the Bengal Global Business Summit (BGBS)-2025, an annual event aimed at promoting the state as a favorable investment locale.

She took this opportunity to address the persistent assertions from the opposition that these annual business summits yield no real investment.

"Some individuals often question the outcomes of such business summits, but I want to highlight that numerous other states are emulating our model and organizing similar events. These summits are essential for the future generations," the Chief Minister emphasized.

Additionally, she highlighted various social welfare initiatives implemented by the state government which have significantly empowered its citizens, particularly women.

"Bengal leads in women empowerment. It also excels in the advancement of medium and small-scale industries," stated the Chief Minister.

Furthermore, she announced that the infrastructure development for the Deucha-Pachami coal block in the Birbhum district of West Bengal is complete.

"If we wish, mining operations can commence immediately. The compensation distribution for landowners has been finalized. Each affected family member will be guaranteed employment at the project. This initiative will create jobs for over a hundred thousand people. Additionally, ancillary industries will generate further employment opportunities," the Chief Minister concluded.
