New Delhi, Feb 5 (NationPress) A survey of seven exit polls suggests that the BJP is projected to secure between 42-49 seats in the upcoming Assembly elections, potentially breaking its 27-year drought and signaling an end to Arvind Kejriwal’s dominance in Delhi after three consecutive victories. The final results are expected to be announced on February 8.

The analysis conducted by election experts indicates that the AAP, led by Arvind Kejriwal, might secure 20-28 seats, indicating a possible end to the party's winning streak since 2013.

With a majority threshold of 36 seats in the 70-member Assembly, the AAP previously achieved a remarkable victory in 2020, claiming 62 out of 70 seats with a vote share of 53.57%. In contrast, the BJP secured only 8 seats with 38.51% of the votes, while Congress garnered 4.26%.

This year, pollsters suggest that the BJP may have gained an advantage through its aggressive campaigning around freebies and significant increases in income tax exemption, which rose from Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Different exit polls present varying predictions; for instance, People’s Pulse forecasts a BJP sweep with 51-60 seats, while others like Matrize expect a tighter race with 35-40 seats for the BJP and 32-37 seats for the AAP. Conversely, Mind Brink predicts 44-49 seats for the AAP and only 15-21 seats for the BJP.

AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar has dismissed these exit poll predictions, confidently estimating 58 seats for the AAP and about 12 seats for the BJP. She has raised concerns over potential violations of the election code, including misuse of resources from the Delhi Police and the Election Commission.

BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri, who is contesting against Chief Minister Atishi in Kalkaji, expressed optimism about the party surpassing the 50-seat mark and forming the government confidently.

The Congress party seems unlikely to witness any surprises, with no exit polls predicting more than three seats for them.

As the exit poll results emerged, Delhi BJP’s Virendra Sachdeva expressed strong belief in the party's government formation, announcing that the first Cabinet meeting would consider a monthly payment of Rs 2,500 to all women.

Polling results from JVC suggest 39-45 seats for the BJP, 22-31 seats for the AAP, and 0-2 seats for the Congress. People’s Insights also predicts a BJP victory with 40-44 seats, while Chanakya Strategies offers similar projections. P-Marq forecasts a comfortable majority for the BJP with 39-49 seats and predicts 21-31 seats for the AAP. DV-Research projects 36-44 seats for the BJP and 26-24 seats for the AAP.
