Agartala, Feb 22 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, expressed on Friday that the BJP administration is committed to enhancing and celebrating the state's culture, tradition, and literature. To achieve this, a series of initiatives have been executed by the state government.
During the inauguration of the three-day Tripura Literature Festival at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, CM Saha highlighted various measures taken, including the distribution of multiple awards aimed at fostering the art, culture, and literacy of both tribal and non-tribal communities.
"This literature festival is set to span three days. Previous festivals have been hosted by the state government and other organizations, in which I have also taken part. However, this year brings me immense joy as we witness esteemed poets, playwrights, and novelists from across the nation participating in this grand event," stated the Chief Minister.
CM Saha acknowledged that the eminent singer and lyricist Kumar Sachin Dev Burman generously donated his land and building for the establishment of Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan.
"Kabiguru Rabindranath Tagore visited Tripura on seven occasions. The royal family of Tripura and that of Tagore maintained a close relationship. Kabiguru even created songs inspired by Tripura. Several former Maharajas of the Manikya dynasty contributed significantly to art and culture through their paintings and writings," remarked the Chief Minister.
As the head of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, CM Saha noted that this event coincides with the observance of the historic 'Matribhasha Diwas'.
This day holds particular significance in honoring those who laid down their lives for the language movement in what was then East Pakistan, now known as Bangladesh, he added.
He praised the participants of the three-day festival for setting remarkable examples in their respective fields.
"Our state government is unwavering in its dedication to enriching and promoting the culture and tradition of Tripura, with countless programs organized throughout the year to support this initiative," CM Saha stated.
Among the attendees were Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma, recipient of the Ashok Chakra, Padma Shri awardees Arunodoy Saha, Ravi Kanan, Gokul Chandra Das, and Bikach Chowdhury, who has received the Rabindra Award.
