Patna, March 17 (NationPress) An altercation occurred between two factions in Izmali village, situated under Badharia police station in Bihar's Siwan district on Sunday, resulting in one individual being injured, according to police reports.

The conflict arose when a group from Gopalganj was riding motorcycles to gather funds for the construction of a temple in Badarjimi village, Gopalganj.

Upon their arrival at a mosque in Izmali village, they were assaulted by assailants positioned near the mosque, provoking a violent confrontation.

“We have successfully arrested three individuals thus far. The injured party has been hospitalized, and an investigation is currently underway to identify additional participants,” stated Amitesh Kumar, Siwan Superintendent of Police (SP), in a conversation with IANS.

Kumar confirmed that law enforcement is actively overseeing the situation to prevent further unrest.

The district police have stationed a significant police presence in the village to deter any escalation of communal conflict.

Witnesses reported that both factions engaged in stone-pelting.

Upon receiving the alert, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sadar 1 and the head of Badharia police station, Rupesh Kumar Verma, promptly arrived at the scene.

Amitesh Kumar assured that the situation remains under control, and further investigations are continuing.

Despite the robust police presence, communal tensions linger in the vicinity.

During the recent Holi festivities, numerous incidents of violence were reported across various districts of Bihar.

This year, Holi and Ramzan coincided in the same month, prompting several leaders from different political parties to make inflammatory remarks regarding the festivals.

Haribhushan Thakur Bachaul, BJP MLA from the Bipsi Assembly constituency in Madhubani district, suggested that Muslims should remain indoors during Holi to avoid being splashed with colors, igniting controversy.

He further stated that if Muslims choose to go outside, they should do so with a “big heart”.

Anjum Ara, the Mayor of Darbhanga, mentioned during a peace committee meeting that the Holi celebrations should be paused for two hours on March 14 to facilitate Friday Namaz peacefully.

However, Anjum Ara later retracted her statement and apologized on March 15.
