Mumbai, Jan 24 (NationPress) The Maharashtra government is set to create Chief Minister Assistance Fund cells in all district collector offices throughout the state to support patients experiencing financial difficulties, as announced by an official on Friday.

This initiative follows the launch of the Chief Minister Assistance Fund during CM Devendra Fadnavis' initial term, designed to deliver urgent healthcare and financial support to those in need.

The Chief Minister has stressed that this service should be available to residents in their local districts, prompting the state government to decide on establishing these cells statewide.

In the past, patients and their families were required to visit the state secretariat to check on their applications.

With the implementation of this new system, residents will now have the ability to receive updates and assistance regarding their applications directly within their districts.

Rameshwar Naik, the head of the Chief Minister Assistance Fund, stated that this initiative would facilitate improved service delivery to the public, according to a government release.

Aligning with the CM’s vision, the operations of the Chief Minister Assistance Fund will transition to a completely paperless process. The entire procedure for securing financial aid for costly medical treatments will be digitized, removing the necessity for patients to visit the secretariat.

A new independent online system will be established soon, which will minimize both time and costs for citizens, as reported in the release.

This initiative will simplify access to support services for citizens within their own districts. The updated system will enable applicants to monitor their application status and address any issues at the district level.

Moreover, district offices will aid the families of patients in completing applications, visit hospitals of those who have received financial support, promote awareness about the fund, and extend help during emergencies.

A committee of expert doctors has been assembled to evaluate and revise the assistance amounts and broaden the range of illnesses covered under the fund. This will assist in keeping up with the increasing treatment costs.

To enhance the assistance process, the Chief Minister’s medical assistance cell will merge its current online systems with the Charity Hospital Help Desk portal and the CM Relief Fund portal.

This integration will simplify the procedure and make it more efficient, providing a single identifier for cases, thus improving the application process.
