Bhopal, Jan 11 (NationPress) Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister Mohan Yadav stated on Friday that the state is endowed with a wealth of forests and recommended that the relevant department should promote research initiatives among the youth.
The Chief Minister pointed out that there exists vast potential for research across various fields such as archaeology, geology, environmental science, botany, and more.
He urged the State Forest Department to introduce innovative research programs in these areas.
CM Yadav made these remarks during the opening session of the two-day Indian Forest Service (IFS) conference held at the Pandit Khushilal Ayurveda Mahavidyalaya Auditorium in Bhopal.
In his speech, the Chief Minister pledged that the state government will extend all necessary support for forest development and foster innovative activities throughout the region.
He emphasized Madhya Pradesh's rich natural heritage, mentioning that it is home to diamonds, cheetahs, and now even elephants are migrating to the state.
Furthermore, he commended the forest staff for their effective management of the challenges posed by the displacement of villages in the Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary, which has recently been designated as a tiger reserve by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change through the National Tiger Conservation Authority.
He noted that Bhopal is the only capital city in the nation where tigers can be frequently spotted nearby, marking a significant ecological achievement for the state.
The Ratapani Wildlife Sanctuary is situated between Bhopal and the neighboring district of Sehore.
The Chief Minister also lauded the efforts of forest officials in reviving wildlife populations in areas of Panna, where wildlife had previously vanished.
He remarked that this restoration showcases their relentless commitment and merits high commendation.
He shared that from 2003 to 2021, the forest cover in Madhya Pradesh has increased by 1,063 square kilometers.
Regarding the IFS meeting, CM Yadav stated that such gatherings are vital for fostering dialogue, camaraderie, sharing experiences, and cultivating a better work environment.
During the two-day IFS session, there will be four discussions focusing on topics like scientific forest management, joint forest management, and the welfare of forest dwellers, among others. Additionally, sports and cultural activities will be organized, added CM Yadav.
