Bhopal, Feb 22 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, highlighted that the overuse of agricultural chemicals is harming both the environment and human health. This situation necessitates the promotion of organic and natural farming practices.

On Friday, he emphasized the goal of expanding organic and natural farming across five lakh hectares in Madhya Pradesh over the forthcoming years. He proposed the establishment of organic 'haat bazaars' in various regions of the state to facilitate better pricing for farmers' organic products.

Furthermore, model districts and development blocks should be created to foster natural agricultural products.

Yadav also announced that solar pumps would be made available to farmers involved in organic farming.

He stated, "The demand for pollution-free, healthy natural agricultural products from Madhya Pradesh is on the rise. We need a widespread campaign to raise awareness regarding this organic farming initiative among farmers. Farmer producer organizations and voluntary groups should spearhead this effort."

These comments were made during a state-level workshop focused on organic agricultural production and value addition, organized by the Department of Farmers Welfare and Agricultural Development.

He advocated for the adoption of modern techniques to enhance agricultural production while stressing the importance of balancing organic and natural farming for environmental sustainability.

Current data from the Indian government indicates that organic farming is being practiced across nearly one lakh acres under the Prakritik Krishi Vikas Yojana.

The Chief Minister pointed out that the state government is committed to establishing agriculture-based industries, especially in districts with lower levels of industrial activity.

Madhya Pradesh's Agriculture Minister, Aidal Singh Kansana, who participated in the workshop alongside CM Yadav, mentioned that an organic production policy will be developed according to the agro-climatic zones of various districts in the state.

He added that memorandums of understanding have been signed with nine service providers in the state to promote organic farming.
