“In Bengaluru, 30 percent of registered general crimes are cyber-related, with the Whitefield division seeing this figure climb to 40 percent. The potential for further increases in these crimes is significant. We will implement necessary measures to prioritize early prevention,” he assured.

Parameshwara noted that in 2023 alone, 22,000 cybercrime cases were reported, encompassing bank account fraud, data breaches, and government account violations. He warned that if these crimes remain unchecked, they could lead to severe repercussions in the future.

“Cybercrimes have no boundaries. The CCITR was established to promote awareness surrounding cybercrime. So far, over 46,000 officers and personnel have received training,” he added.

“Technology and training are vital for reinforcing law and order. With the global rise of cybercrimes, it is essential to enhance our technical capabilities to combat them. The CID Decode Summit will be instrumental in this regard. Initiatives like Hackathon and Cyber Law Ideathon showcase our commitment to fostering a secure digital environment in Karnataka and a safer India,” he remarked.

Home Minister Parameshwara also recognized and awarded students who took part in competitions such as hackathons and cyber law ideathons organized by the CID Investigation Department.

These competitions focused on developing software solutions aimed at detecting deepfakes, utilizing blockchain technology, and tackling various cybercrime challenges.
