New Delhi, Feb 21 (NationPress) The newly formed BJP government in Delhi, under the leadership of Rekha Gupta, has dismissed all officials and employees who were placed in the offices of the Chief Minister and Ministers by the previous AAP administration in a diverted capacity and has returned them to their original departments, as stated by an official on Friday.

A memo issued by Deputy Secretary (Services) Bhairab Dutt regarding the termination of co-terminus appointments in the Chief Minister’s and Ministers’ offices was disseminated to all departments on Thursday, alerting them about the upcoming fresh appointments.

The government directive specified that the establishment of a new government necessitates new staff appointments across all categories, as previous appointments are automatically terminated upon the resignation of the then Chief Minister and Ministers.

Consequently, the deployment and appointment of officials must occur anew after the new Chief Minister and Cabinet Ministers take their oaths of office, the order stated.

In the process of terminating the services of the AAP government’s appointees—primarily comprising consultants, advisers, or officers on special duties—Deputy Secretary Dutt referenced the Central government’s guidelines regarding the appointment of co-terminus staff.

“Whenever new Ministers are appointed, the Ministries/Departments of the Government of India have been authorized to establish various grade posts within their personal staff. These posts will remain in effect as long as the Ministers are in office and will be deemed automatically abolished upon their departure,” it clarified.

In simpler terms, the posts created for the personal staff of Ministers are co-terminus with their tenure in office.

Thus, all co-terminus appointments previously made in the offices of the former Chief Minister and Cabinet Ministers are now terminated. The Chief Minister and Ministers’ offices are to submit new proposals to the General Administration Department (GAD) for co-terminus appointments, as per the government order.

To prevent any misunderstanding, regular staff from DANICS/DSS/Steno cadre will continue their duties in their respective offices under the newly sworn-in Chief Minister/Ministers until further notice, the order concluded.
