Gurugram, March 15 (NationPress) The police in Gurugram have apprehended four individuals for their alleged role in a shooting incident that resulted in injuries to two people due to longstanding animosity stemming from the recent municipal council elections, authorities reported on Saturday.

The victims have been named as Ankit and Akhilesh.

The suspects have been identified as Dhirender, Udayveer alias Bittan, Mukul, and Sanjay, all of whom are from Jatoli village in Gurugram.

As per police reports, a complaint was filed on March 13 regarding gunfire in the Jatoli area.

Upon receiving the alert, the police promptly arrived at the scene, where they learned that the injured parties had been transported to Pataudi Hospital.

Upon reaching Pataudi Government Hospital, it became evident that the injured were subsequently referred to a facility in Gurugram.

Police officers contacted the families of the injured, who informed them that the victims were admitted to a private hospital in Gurugram.

After gathering this information, the police went to the private hospital, where the father of one of the injured provided a written complaint stating that he had backed the winning candidate in the municipal council elections, while his neighbor supported the defeated candidate.

On March 13, the father stated that his neighbor and his accomplices fired shots at his son Ankit and nephew Akhilesh inside their home and then fled the scene.

Following this complaint, a case was registered at the Pataudi police station in Gurugram.

The initial investigation revealed that the complainant and the accused were aligned with opposing candidates in the recently held municipal council elections. This disagreement led to a confrontation, culminating in the shooting as an act of vengeance against the victims.

According to Sandeep Kumar, the spokesperson for the Gurugram police, "The accused have been presented in court and placed under a one-day police custody remand for additional questioning and evidence recovery. The investigation is ongoing."
