Shimla, Feb 22 (NationPress) The Industries Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Harshwardhan Chauhan, on Friday instructed all relevant departments to expedite efforts to ensure the timely completion of the Bulk Drug Park.
In October 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the cornerstone for the Bulk Drug Park at Haroli, with an estimated investment exceeding Rs 1,900 crore.
During the sixth assembly of the high-powered committee of Himachal Pradesh Bulk Drug Park Infrastructure Limited (HPBDPIL), the Minister urged the team to issue tenders for site development, boundary walls, and internal road infrastructure following the decisions made in the fifth committee meeting.
Additionally, he tasked the project management consultancy with establishing the technical utility parameters and to release the remaining tenders for the zero-liquid discharge common effluent treatment plant, boiler steam generation, distribution systems, and solid waste management plant before March 8.
The Minister also assessed the progress on crucial decisions from the previous committee meeting.
It was finalized to engage NIPER Mohali as a technical collaborator for the initiative, with an agreement to be formalized with this organization.
NIPER will provide technical assistance in establishing a center of excellence, which has received in-principal approval.
Yunus Khan, Director (Industries) and MD-cum-CEO of the state agency overseeing the Bulk Drug Park, delivered an extensive presentation outlining the latest park developments.
Also present at the meeting were Anil Kapil, the Chief Minister's Advisor (Infrastructure); R.D. Nazeem, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries); Rajeshwar Goel, MD of the HPSIDC; Tilak Raj Sharma, Additional CEO of the HPBDPIL; and other senior officials from various related departments.
The park aims to lessen reliance on imports of active pharmaceutical ingredients and raw materials.
It is anticipated to draw investments around Rs 10,000 crore and generate employment opportunities for over 20,000 individuals.
Moreover, it will stimulate economic activities in the locality.
