New Delhi, Feb 22 (NationPress) The Secretary General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Arsenio Dominguez, has praised India’s contribution to sustainable shipping and seafarer welfare, emphasizing the need for strengthening maritime cooperation.

During his visit to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways (MoPSW) in the national capital, Dominguez engaged in discussions about the growth of the maritime sector and the enhancement of bilateral relations.

This visit reinforces the collaboration between India and the IMO aimed at fostering a cleaner, safer, and more efficient global shipping industry, as the Ministry is dedicated to promoting innovation and sustainability while working alongside the IMO to fulfill shared maritime objectives.

Dominguez, alongside T.K. Ramachandran, the MoPSW Secretary, interacted with senior officials from various government ministries and departments.

The discussions revolved around improving efficiency and environmental accountability within the maritime industry, particularly focusing on the promotion of green shipping, sustainable port development, and the integration of advanced technologies, as reported by the ministry.
