Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 22 (NationPress) As Kerala prepares for the prominent Invest Kerala Global Summit (IKGS)-2025, a two-day event commencing in Kochi on Friday, former Minister of State (MoS) and BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar emphasized that the state must learn from the operational style of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"There exists significant potential for Kerala to attract investments. The state should prioritize progress over politics... emulating the efficient political governance demonstrated by PM Modi," Chandrasekhar remarked.
He criticized both the ruling Left and Congress-led administrations, describing their investment summits as mere political spectacles that fail to generate new job opportunities. He advocated for adopting PM Modi's approach to governance.
Chandrasekhar pointed out that since 2011, successive state governments have hosted about 10 similar events.
"However, the results from these events have merely led to the construction of new malls, with no real investments or job creation. Consequently, many of our youth are seeking better opportunities outside Kerala," Chandrasekhar stated.
He attributed the challenges facing Kerala to poor policies from previous governments, rampant corruption, and violent protests, which have severely impacted the state's development. He noted that the Left government's inadequate fiscal management has exacerbated the situation, echoing problems seen in states like Himachal Pradesh and Karnataka under Congress rule.
Chandrasekhar, who contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election from the Thiruvananthapuram seat, expressed concern over the current political climate.
In a related note, Leader of Opposition (LoP) V.D. Satheesan, who participated in the inaugural session of IKGS-2025, proudly announced that the Opposition is initiating a new culture of support for investment.
"We are fully backing the government to make Kerala an investment-friendly state. I am pleased to report that there have been no hartals in the past four years," Satheesan stated.
He urged the Pinarayi Vijayan government to maintain the same cooperative spirit when they transition to the Opposition in the future.
