Hyderabad, Feb 8 (NationPress) K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), on Saturday held Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accountable for the BJP's success in the Delhi Assembly elections, provoking a strong response from Congress.
In a sarcastic post on X, the former minister of Telangana offered his congratulations to Rahul Gandhi regarding the BJP’s win.
"Kudos to Rahul Gandhi for once again winning the election for BJP, excellent job!" tweeted KTR, as he is commonly known.
This was in response to a remark made by one of his supporters, who shared a video of KTR’s interview with a television channel during the Telangana Assembly elections in 2023. During that interview, KTR had remarked that Congress under Rahul Gandhi cannot halt the progress of Telangana. He noted that instead of challenging the BJP in states like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, Rahul Gandhi was focusing on defeating a force (BRS) capable of countering the BJP.
KTR labeled Rahul Gandhi as the greatest ‘karyakarta’ and ‘asset’ for Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He asserted that influential regional leaders like his father K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), Arvind Kejriwal, Mamata Banerjee, and M.K. Stalin were effectively countering Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP.
KTR’s sarcastic comments regarding the Delhi election results prompted a fierce backlash from Congress leaders, who accused the BRS of having a "secret understanding" with the BJP.
Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy remarked that the BRS should take credit for the BJP’s ascent in Telangana. "We, as the Congress Party, are fighters - we never surrender, and we always rebound, just as we did in Telangana. We would have praised you for your remarkable achievement in the Parliament elections - securing zero seats for your party and handing 8 seats to the BJP in Telangana. If anyone should be acknowledged for the BJP’s growth in the state, it’s you. Great job!" the Congress leader commented.
Telangana state General Secretary Kota Neelima responded to KTR. "This is the unavoidable future of BJP’s B Teams across the nation, whether BRS or AAP. Dear KTR, your anxiety is evident to all," she posted on ‘X’.
Rohin Reddy, a Congress leader from Hyderabad, suggested that the BRS should contemplate how it fell from 11 seats in the Lok Sabha to none, and how its vote share plummeted to 15 percent. "By gifting eight (8) Lok Sabha seats directly to the BJP as part of a covert arrangement, the BRS has set a record (per capita) for losing even deposits in Parliamentary elections. Happy with such a performance, and now enjoying Twitter analysis. Reflect on your utter irrelevance. For a change, be a little honest," he advised KTR.
