Hyderabad, Feb 5 (NationPress) K. T. Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), proposed on Wednesday that Rahul Gandhi, a leader of the Congress party, should change his name to "Election Gandhi".

Rama Rao criticized the Congress for failing to fulfill commitments made to the Backward Classes (BCs) during the 2023 Assembly elections, labeling the BC declaration as a 100 percent lie.

In response to the Assembly session held on Tuesday, the BRS leader took to social media, accusing the Congress government of shamelessly peddling lies regarding the BC declaration.

"Lies! Damn Lies! Nothing but lies! Yesterday's Assembly session revealed two key points to the people of Telangana: the catastrophic government lacks clarity and the fabrications you boldly presented in the name of the BC Declaration," KTR, as he is commonly known, stated.

"While the government is lost on the data shared yesterday, it is evident that you never intended to pursue a 42 percent BC reservation. The blatant reversal by your Congress government and the tendency to shift blame onto the central government only highlights your lack of commitment. It has been demonstrated once more that all your promises and declarations are mere political theatrics," KTR remarked, responding to the caste survey report discussed in the Assembly.

"You ought to change your name to Election Gandhi. Your BC declaration is a 100 percent lie and your dedication is a 100 percent farce," KTR remarked directly to Rahul Gandhi.

During the Assembly elections, the Congress party had promised to elevate the BC reservations in local bodies to 42 percent from the current 23 percent within six months of taking office, as stated in the BC declaration released at Kamareddy. The party also pledged 42 percent reservation for BCs in government civil construction and maintenance contracts.

In the Assembly, KTR accused the Congress government of betraying BCs by failing to propose a bill for the promised 42 percent reservations, as stated in the Kamareddy BC Declaration meeting.

He contended that the government merely made an announcement without any genuine legislative action. "We anticipated that the government would introduce a legally binding bill to guarantee 42 percent reservations for BCs. Instead, they issued a mere statement and labeled it historic. BCs will never accept this deception," asserted the BRS leader.

KTR mentioned that BC communities statewide had hoped the Congress government would present a bill in the special legislative session to enact 42 percent reservations for local body elections. However, he noted the government only released a statement without taking meaningful action.

Recalling past events, KTR noted that when the Comprehensive Household Survey was conducted under the BRS administration, Revanth Reddy had publicly urged individuals not to provide their details.

KTR questioned, "How can the current government ignore the data gathered in an open and transparent survey?" He also highlighted that the Samagra Kutumba Survey (Comprehensive Household Survey) conducted by the previous government contains authentic demographic data.

KTR elaborated that the Samagra Kutumba Survey included a total of 1.03 crore families and 3.68 crore individuals in the data collection, identifying that BCs constitute 51 percent of the population, which rises to 61 percent when BC Muslims are included.

KTR criticized the government for manipulating statistics, questioning how the BC population decreased from 51 percent to 46 percent in the current survey.
