Bhopal, March 15 (NationPress) In yet another shocking incident, stray dogs were spotted transporting the remains of a newborn child to the government hospital in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh, as reported by local police.
This marks the second occurrence of its kind in just three days.
According to eyewitness accounts, on Saturday afternoon, the stray dogs were observed carrying the deceased infant’s body into Khargone District Hospital.
The most disturbing aspect of this incident is that the body was found with a severed leg, hand, and neck.
It is suspected that the dogs may have consumed some of the infant’s body parts.
In a statement to IANS, Rohit Lakhare, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer, indicated that a comprehensive investigation is underway.
Special teams have been assigned to collect information, and the hospital’s records of baby deliveries from the past week are being reviewed.
Authorities are also examining CCTV footage from both the hospital and its vicinity.
The police official has ruled out the possibility that the infant’s condition resulted from an abortion or foeticide, citing the fully developed body, and confirmed that both doctors and hospital staff are being interrogated.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the infant may have been delivered in the hospital’s maternity ward before a relative abandoned the lifeless body outdoors.
The officer mentioned that the stray dogs were seen with the body around 3:30 p.m., and upon receiving this disturbing report, the Jaitapur police hurried to the scene and secured the remains in the post-mortem room.
A panel of doctors is scheduled to perform an autopsy on the remains to gather more details.
A similar incident transpired in Rewa town, where a stray dog was seen carrying a newborn baby’s body with its lower limbs missing.
Police suspect that the body may have been unearthed by dogs from a nearby cremation site along the Beehar river in Rewa.
In response to these incidents, local police and hospital staff have alerted municipal authorities to address the issue of stray dogs.
