Patna, Feb 12 (NationPress) A Sub-Inspector in Bihar's Muzaffarpur was apprehended by the Vigilance Department after being caught in the act while receiving a bribe of Rs 75,000 on Tuesday, according to police reports.
The implicated officer, Roshan Kumar, who is a 2019-batch officer, was stationed at the Saraiya police station in the district.
As per official statements, Kumar had solicited a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a victim dealing with land misregistration, promising to draft a favorable supervision report.
In response to confidential intelligence, the Vigilance Department orchestrated an operation, and upon the victim delivering Rs 75,000, the officers present promptly detained the Sub-Inspector on-site,” explained Satyendra Ram, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Vigilance Department, Patna.
DSP Ram, who spearheaded the Vigilance team, stated, “Under my direction, a team was established, and we successfully apprehended the accused officer. He will undergo an investigation and be remanded into judicial custody on Wednesday.”
Kumar, a resident of Avatar Nagar, Chhapra, reportedly summoned the complainant to a location near a high school in the Karja police station area during a duty assignment to receive the bribe.
