The billionaire entrepreneur, who toured the Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd (NMIAL) site and engaged with the teams involved, also shared a brief video on his social media channels, describing the upcoming airport as a "true gift to India".

In December of the previous year, the NMIAL successfully completed its first commercial validation flight with the landing of an IndiGo Airlines A320 aircraft, paving the way for the Greenfield airport to commence operations shortly.

The validation flight was observed by high-ranking officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), the Airports Authority of India (AAI), and Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), confirming the airport's compliance with international aviation standards.

Previously, the NMIAL had successfully conducted the flight calibration of the Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI), drafting instrument approach procedures in preparation for the validation flight.

The NMIAL is a project of Adani Airports Holdings Limited (AAHL) and is owned by Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) (74% stake) and CIDCO (26% stake).

Once fully operational, the airport will have the capability to accommodate over 90 million passengers annually (MPPA). In its initial phase, the airport is set to handle a passenger capacity of 20 MPPA and a cargo capacity of 800,000 tonnes per year.
