Beed, Feb 5 (NationPress) In light of the ongoing uproar regarding the heinous murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh in the Beed district, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asserted on Wednesday that such occurrences will be unacceptable in Maharashtra.

He declared that decisive measures would be implemented against those implicated in the murder of Santosh Deshmukh, emphasizing that intimidation will not be tolerated within the state.

“Events like the murder of Santosh Deshmukh will not be condoned under any circumstances. I guarantee that action will be taken against all individuals involved, regardless of their status. I urge the residents of Beed to remember that we are the heirs of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who united 18 different castes to establish Swarajya. We also aim to unite everyone similarly and aspire to create a new Beed,” the Chief Minister stated during a function held in Ashti to inaugurate various development initiatives.

Environment Minister Pankaja Munde and Ashti legislator Suresh Dhas were present at the event; however, Food and Civil Supply Minister Dhananjay Munde was absent due to a medical emergency.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the government will not spare anyone connected to Santosh Deshmukh’s murder, noting that history indicates the Beed district has produced remarkable individuals.

“That history will continue, and I will steadfastly support efforts to forge a glorious future for Beed, that’s all I can convey at this moment,” he remarked.

His statement bears significance especially as the Santosh Deshmukh murder investigation is being conducted by the state CID, a special investigation team, and a judicial committee.

Moreover, calls for the resignation of NCP minister Dhananjay Munde are growing, as his close associate Walmik Karad has been arrested and charged under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act in connection with the extortion case related to the murder.

NCP President and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has dismissed the demands from both ruling and opposition members for Munde’s resignation, citing the ongoing investigation.

Munde has also stated that he will not resign while advocating for capital punishment for those involved in Santosh Deshmukh’s murder.

Recently, Santosh Deshmukh’s family met the Chief Minister seeking justice, indicating that one of the primary suspects linked to the murder remains at large.

In the meantime, the Chief Minister expressed optimism that the next generation in Marathwada will not experience drought, as 23 TMC of water is set to flow into the Godavari basin due to the river linking project.

“Marathwada should receive water from the Krishna River since its section belongs to the Bhima sub-basin. Former Union Minister Gopinath Munde and other leaders from Marathwada made significant efforts to ensure that Marathwada receives 23 TMC of water from the Krishna basin,” he noted.

The Chief Minister added that this decision had not been implemented later.

“After our government assumed power, follow-up actions commenced. When I took office as Chief Minister, we endeavored to allocate Marathwada’s water share. At that time, I realized that the figure of 23 TMC of water existed only on paper. In reality, merely 7 TMC of water is available,” the Chief Minister explained.
