New Delhi, Feb 23 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Sunday that, as part of a significant initiative aimed at women's empowerment, he will transfer his social media accounts to a select group of inspiring women, termed 'Naari Shakti', from various regions of the country on International Women's Day.
This initiative aims to offer these women a platform to showcase their stories and accomplishments. PM Modi encouraged women to actively engage in this initiative.
He remarked that International Women's Day serves as a vital moment to recognize India's Naari Shakti (women power), emphasizing their roles in shaping the nation's history, present, and future.
Quoting a verse from Devi Mahatmya, a Hindu philosophical text, PM Modi elaborated that it signifies how all forms of knowledge are reflections of the Goddess and that she is embodied in all women's power across the globe.
He stated, "Respect for daughters has always been a top priority in our culture. The strength of women has significantly contributed to the independence movement and the creation of our Constitution."
The Prime Minister shared an audio recording of Hansa Mehta, an influential figure in India's freedom struggle and constitutional drafting, presenting the national flag in the Constituent Assembly.
In the audio, Mehta can be heard saying: "It is fitting that this first flag, which is raised over this esteemed assembly, should be a gift from the women of India. We have embraced the saffron color, fought, endured, and sacrificed for the cause of our nation's freedom. Today, we have achieved our goal."
Reflecting on her words, PM Modi highlighted that Hansa Mehta's statements emphasize the tremendous sacrifices made by Indian women for the nation's independence and symbolize their steadfast spirit.
He added, "She believed that the saffron color in our tricolor represents this sentiment. She expressed her confidence that women's power will fortify and enrich India. Today, her words ring true. In every sector, women's contributions are both significant and inspiring."
