Jaipur, March 23 (NationPress) Protests have been ongoing for 36 days in Bijainagar, Beawar district, Rajasthan, regarding an alleged rape and blackmailing case. On Saturday, the Sarva Hindu Samaj Sangharsh Samiti organized a complete bandh in the district.
In a show of solidarity, local traders closed their shops, while substantial police forces were deployed to ensure law and order.
A rally led by the Hindu Sangharsh Samiti took place on Saturday, emphasizing their demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the rape case.
Hindu organizations are insisting that the case be transferred to the CBI.
In response to increasing pressure, the Ajmer Range Director Inspector General (DIG), Om Prakash, has reassigned the leadership of the Special Investigation Team (SIT), appointing IPS Abhishek Andasu as the new in-charge.
Previously, the investigation was led by Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhay Command Nem Singh.
With the recent changes, IPS Abhishek Andasu, a graduate from IIT Bombay and a specialist in cybercrime, has taken over the case.
The situation is being closely monitored by Circle Officer Sajjan Singh and Bijainagar police station in-charge Karan Singh.
Currently, police have apprehended 16 individuals, including five minors.
While 11 of the accused are in custody, the minors have been placed in a juvenile correction facility.
The SIT includes officials from Beawar Additional SP, Masuda Circle Officer, two police station officers, and a Sub-Inspector.
In a statement to the media, IPS Abhishek Andasu promised a comprehensive and impartial investigation.
"The entire case will be thoroughly investigated. Any flaws found during the probe will be rectified," he stated.
As the protests continue, district officials maintain a vigilant presence in Bijainagar.
A police report was filed on February 15 regarding the Bijainagar rape and blackmail case.
