Gurugram, April 24 (NationPress) The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has commenced the construction of six foot over bridges (FOBs) along the Delhi-Jaipur National Highway (NH-48) in the districts of Gurugram and Rewari, according to officials.

These FOBs, with an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore, are anticipated to be completed by August, as stated by the officials.

In Gurugram, the FOBs will be constructed in Rampura, the NSG campus at Manesar, and the village of Binola. In contrast, in Rewari, the bridges will be established in the villages of Rathivas, Malpura, and Jaisingh Kheda.

Jaisingh Kheda is located on the border of Haryana and Rajasthan.

The NHAI awarded the construction contract for the new FOBs on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway to a contractor in February this year. This contractor is also responsible for repairing two existing FOBs located in Sidhrawali and Kharkhada villages.

Currently, the NHAI has an FOB near Signature Tower along the Delhi-Jaipur Highway, but its condition is poor due to inadequate maintenance, and its escalator is non-functional. Consequently, pedestrians must cross this highway on foot, which poses a risk of road accidents.

Additionally, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) plans to construct FOBs near Raheja Mall and CD Chowk on the Gurugram-Sohna Highway, as well as on Old Delhi Road and Sheetla Mata Road. The estimated cost for these constructions is around Rs 16 crore. Lifts and escalators will be integrated into these FOBs to ensure safe crossings for pedestrians.

The GMDA has finalized the locations for these FOBs, and construction is set to begin within the next month or two.

It has also stated that the FOB currently under construction in Narsinghpur village will be completed shortly.

"The tender for the construction of six FOBs on the Delhi-Jaipur Highway has been awarded. Work has commenced, and all these FOBs are scheduled for completion by August. Additionally, two FOBs will undergo repairs," said NHAI manager Prakash Tiwari.
