Vadodara, April 24 (NationPress) In the wake of the tragic terrorist incident in Kashmir’s Pahalgam, law enforcement agencies throughout Gujarat have escalated their security protocols.
The Vadodara Police have implemented rigorous patrolling and thorough inspections in vulnerable areas, focusing on preventing any possible threats and ensuring public safety.
Among the casualties were a father and son hailing from Bhavnagar and another individual from Surat. Their remains were transported back to Gujarat late Tuesday night, with the final ceremonies taking place this morning amidst a somber atmosphere.
In response, Vadodara Police have commenced gathering information regarding foreign students residing in the city and collecting data on tourists currently occupying local accommodations.
Police Commissioner Narasimha Komar confirmed these initiatives, citing them as necessary precautionary actions following national security advisories.
The Commissioner also urged the public to dismiss rumors circulating on social media and rely solely on official channels for updates.
The presence of police in Gujarat has been noticeably bolstered, particularly in urban and sensitive regions. In light of the recent attack in Pahalgam, the Tour Operators and Travel Agents’ Association of Gujarat (TAG) has proposed extending the current flight rescheduling deadline from April 30 to June 30, 2025.
The association highlighted the escalating anxiety among tourists as the primary reason for this request. TAG has also urged hotels and transportation providers to issue credit notes instead of enforcing cancellations, aiming to protect travelers from financial losses and preserve customer confidence during this ongoing crisis.
Meanwhile, a Vadodara travel agent informed media representatives that while clients are being advised to delay cancellations temporarily, they are offering full refunds without hesitation.
“If anyone chooses not to travel, we’re not compelling them. We’re prepared to issue a full refund,” the agent stated.
A travel agent from Rajkot reported that nearly 40 percent of their summer packages were booked for Kashmir this year. “We’ve already faced over 100 cancellations,” he mentioned.
