The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Panchakshari Swamy, reportedly had connections with a well-known film actress.
As per police sources, the Madivala Police in Bengaluru have successfully concluded a prolonged series of criminal acts. The accused, Panchakshari Swamy, originally from Solapur in Maharashtra, was notorious for his infidelities despite being married and having a child.
Investigations indicate that Swamy began his life of crime in 2003 as a minor and evolved into a professional thief by 2009, accumulating wealth worth crores. In 2014-15, he became romantically involved with a prominent actress.
During questioning, Swamy admitted to spending significant amounts on the actress, including building a Rs 3 crore house in Kolkata and gifting her an aquarium valued at Rs 22 lakh.
In 2016, Swamy faced arrest by Gujarat Police and received a six-year prison sentence. Upon his release from Sabarmati Central Jail in Ahmedabad, he returned to his former criminal lifestyle and was arrested by Maharashtra Police for similar offenses. After his release in 2024, he relocated to Bengaluru, where he resumed his burglary activities.
On January 9, he burglarized a residence in the Madivala area of Bengaluru. Following intelligence gathering, police apprehended him near the Madivala market. During interrogation, he confessed to carrying out crimes in Bengaluru with an accomplice.
Authorities seized an iron rod and a firearm, which he allegedly utilized to melt stolen gold and shape it into biscuits. Swamy disclosed that he stored all the gold and silver biscuits made from stolen jewelry at his home in Solapur, Maharashtra.
Law enforcement confiscated 181 grams of gold biscuits, 333 grams of silver items, and the firearm used in the melting process.
Investigators also found that Swamy would frequently change his clothing on the street to evade detection after committing crimes.
He was a black belt in karate. Following his father's demise, his mother secured a compensatory job within the railway department. Further investigations revealed that Swamy possessed a house, registered in his mother’s name, which was facing auction due to unpaid loans, according to police sources.
The case was resolved by a team led by DCP (Northeast) Sarah Fathima, Madivala ACP Laxminarayana K.C., and Inspector Mohammad M.A. of the Madivala police station.
