Agartala, Jan 24 (NationPress) To empower youths, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday launched the ‘Tripura Startup Policy-2024’, which will provide financial assistance to entrepreneurs involved in Information Technology (IT) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES).

During the unveiling of the ‘Tripura Startup Policy-2024’ at a gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized that if the youth are not nurtured, the country's advancement is implausible.

He also criticized the former administrations for failing to support the youth, leaving them without direction.

“The Startup Policy initially began in 2019, and today, we are re-launching it with several modifications. Apart from IT, we have now incorporated agriculture, bamboo, food processing, and other sectors. The youth have not received adequate support in the past, resulting in a lack of direction. Not everyone can be employed,” Saha stated.

He highlighted that youth are inherently energetic and capable.

“Yet, their vigor and enthusiasm often lack proper guidance. This policy aims to appropriately channel their energy and ensure that the youth receive the essential assistance from the government,” the Chief Minister remarked.

CM Saha added that this policy would empower the youth to reach new heights.

“It will assist them in realizing their ambitions of becoming entrepreneurs or industrialists. Such initiatives will contribute to the vision of 'Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura'. Financial institutions will also provide support to these youths, thereby creating improved employment opportunities. The policy's goal is to address unemployment by involving youth from all societal strata, from the lowest to the highest,” he explained.

The Chief Minister stated that when this initiative commenced, robust connections were established with IITs, IIMs, NITs, and other prominent universities in India.

It is a prudent move to assist youth in achieving greater heights from an early stage, he noted. Banks are motivating youth, ensuring that at least one Dalit, one woman, and one Indigenous person benefits from this initiative, as mentioned by Saha.

CM Saha remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed that innovation and new opportunities for the youth are essential for the nation's progress.

"Our Prime Minister has consistently stated that youth are our primary human resource. If the youth thrive, the nation will thrive. In the future, our various startup policies will bolster this growth,” he added.

During the event, Finance and IT Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Chief Secretary J K Sinha, Industries and Commerce Department Secretary Kiran Gitte, and Director of IT Jeya Ragul Geshan were also in attendance.
