New Delhi, Feb 21 (NationPress) Describing nationalism as the fundamental duty of every citizen, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar expressed his astonishment regarding the reports of foreign interference in Indian elections. He emphasized the necessity to unveil those involved in this assault on our democratic values.

During his speech at the Global Conference of Meditation Leaders, he referenced comments made by US President Donald Trump, stating that “the democratic process in our nation was attempted to be undermined, threatening the integrity of our electoral framework”.

Dhankhar pointed to disclosures from the US administration concerning the involvement of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Indian elections, alleging they spent millions to sway voter turnout. He remarked, “One fact stands out: funds were indeed allocated, and they were substantial.”

“It is imperative to dismantle such conspiracies from the ground up, as advised in Chanakya Niti,” he asserted.

“We must reveal the identities of those who partook in this attack on democratic principles,” he added.

“It is our patriotic duty to confront those who aimed to tarnish the sanctity of our electoral process,” he stated, noting that India will evolve into a ‘Viksit Bharat’ only when there exists peace and the appropriate environment – even for meditation.

He commended the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government regarding welfare initiatives such as universal toilets, gas connections, piped water supply, internet access, and improved health and education infrastructure, which contribute to a favorable atmosphere for the well-being and mental tranquility of the populace.

“Yet, some individuals persist in finding faults in everything,” he remarked, acknowledging that imperfections are inevitable in all systems but are necessary for societal advancement.

Later, he chaired the Valedictory Function of the 5th Rajya Sabha Internship Program at Vice-President's Enclave and reaffirmed the robustness of national institutions like the Election Commission and Judiciary.

“Trust in our institutions as they are resilient, whether it be our Election Commission or Judiciary. The Election Commission is criticized when you lose and praised when you win; what kind of reasoning is this?” he queried, making a subtle reference to politicians who blame the electoral body for their defeats.
