Bhubaneswar, Jan 20 (NationPress) In a significant demonstration, the Youth Congress activists gathered on Monday at the Lower PMG area to express their grievances against the state government regarding various pressing issues such as rising prices, unemployment, and deteriorating law and order.

The police intervened as the protesters advanced towards the residence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to conduct a 'gherao'.

The demonstration was spearheaded by Uday Bhanu Chib, the national president of the Indian Youth Congress, alongside other prominent party figures.

“The Chief Minister of Odisha has become a ‘Puppet CM’. He must prioritize offering jobs to the youth of Odisha and help them break free from drug addiction. However, the Odisha CM is merely adhering to the directives of Amit Shah and Narendra Modi, permitting his associates to establish industries in the region. We are rallying to awaken the puppet CM, Amit Shah, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to create job opportunities for the youth of Odisha and reduce the rising prices in the state,” stated Uday Bhanu.

He further asserted that Odisha deserves a Chief Minister who genuinely cares for the youth and addresses their employment needs while combatting drug addiction.

Another Congress figure remarked that the state government cannot silence the party's voice, and this agitation will escalate moving forward.

Meanwhile, BJP Odisha Yuva Morcha President Abhilash Panda criticized Congress on Monday, claiming that the opposition party is in a precarious situation and is protesting merely to preserve their identity.

He added that the people of Odisha need not take their protest seriously and expressed confidence that the Mohan Majhi-led BJP government will accomplish what Congress failed to achieve during their 55 years of governance in Odisha.

It's worth noting that the leading opposition party, Biju Janata Dal, also recently organized a large-scale protest in Bhubaneswar, addressing the government's inability to control the soaring prices of essential goods in the state.
