New Delhi, Jan 17 (NationPress) The Indian edtech sector is effectively bridging the geographical divide in education and making quality learning accessible to millions, as stated in a report released on Friday.

This report, a collaboration between the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) and Grant Thornton Bharat, was unveiled at the India Digital Summit (IDS). It reveals that 98 percent of teachers and 69 percent of parents acknowledge the significant role of edtech in addressing geographical barriers.

It emphasizes that edtech platforms facilitate access to high-quality education services, resources, and courses that might be unavailable locally. This encompasses video lectures, interactive modules, and virtual classrooms, ensuring that students from various backgrounds can attain quality education irrespective of their geographic location.

The findings also indicate that 94 percent of students and 84 percent of teachers find edtech content engaging, with platforms bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements. This alignment is enhancing employability across sectors, reinforcing India’s vision for a future-ready and inclusive education system.

Approximately 85 percent of students believe that edtech has strengthened their learning outcomes, while 86 percent of users acknowledge the economic accessibility of edtech courses. Furthermore, 87 percent of students appreciate its role in developing real-world skills such as coding and AI, highlighting its significance in workforce preparedness.

“Edtech platforms have the potential to be a game changer by removing the limitations of physical classrooms and extending educational opportunities to the most remote areas of the country. However, the sector must also address challenges like creating low-bandwidth solutions and ensuring data privacy,” stated Prateek Maheshwari, Co-Founder of PhysicsWallah (PW) and Chair of the India Edtech Consortium (IEC).

“While technology is crucial for education delivery, achieving effective outcomes requires a supportive environment. India’s EdTech sector is revolutionizing education delivery, enhancing accessibility, and empowering both learners and educators, thereby fostering a more equitable knowledge economy,” added Dharmender Jhamb, Partner at Grant Thornton Bharat.

The report further highlights that by utilizing the 4A framework: academic quality, accessibility, affordability, and advancing employment, the Indian edtech sector has successfully tackled critical gaps in traditional education systems.

Edtech’s dedication to accessibility is particularly notable in rural and underserved areas, where it plays a vital role in boosting student participation.
